God and the Super Bowl

Toady is the big day and whether you’re rooting for the Winners or the Cheaters, I hope you all don’t make too many stupid bets. If you do have to throw something on the table to make a game where likely neither team is a favorite of yours, place your bet on the Winners. Because as their name suggests, they will win this game. Now that I’ve got my endorsement out of the way, lets get to the main topic.

First I’ll answer the question of “Does God care about football?” with a short quote from one of my favorite players, Baltimore Raven’s running back Justin Forsett, who happens to be a Christian,”The question in itself suggests that God is small and has too much on his plate to worry about football. I could never understand how somebody could believe in an all-powerful all-knowing God and believe there are certain things he just can’t handle. Football is a profession that is played by people, and God cares about people and what they do.”

So now that we know that yes, God cares about football, lets look at another NFL player and see what he has to say about God. Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson, who is playing in today’s game said this just days ago,”I think God cares about football. I think God cares about everything he created.”. Former Denver Bronco’s Quarterback Tim Tebow who is famous for starting “Tebowing”, which arose from him kneeling in prayer on the field said,”I’m not perfect. And who knows how many times I’ve fallen short. We all fall short. That’s the amazing thing about the grace of God.”

So its alright to be a Christian and still care about the Super Bowl. If you’re still deciding what team to root for and want to support some fellow brothers in Christ, check out what some Seahawks players and staff said the other day –http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/eric-scheiner/seahawks-players-and-staff-jesus-better-super-bowl

So I’ll end this with a big Go Winners!
